Article 1: Purpose and Introduction of the tournament
A. Purpose
- The purpose of this competition is to select 109 foreign university students who have a strong interest in Hangeul and appoint them as scholars of the Jiphyeonjeon, which supports the Sejong Hangeul initiative. Together, we aim to enhance the global recognition of Hangeul.
- With the launch of the first Hangeul Olympiad, we seek to instill the proud history and significance of Hangeul in the minds of participants, contributing to its globalization through a free and creative competition among foreign university students.
B. Introduction to the Tournament
- This tournament serves as a grand performance where foreign exchange students embrace the legacy of King Sejong, the creator of Hangeul. Participants will showcase and interpret the proud Hangeul from diverse perspectives, spreading its significance and power throughout the world.
Article 2: Name
- The official name of the tournament is the 1st Sejong Hangeul Olympiad, and it is also referred to as the Sejong Hangeul Festival.
Chapter 2. Participation in the Tournament
Article 3: Eligibility to Participate
A. Team Composition
- Foreign students from universities/graduate schools/language institutes must form teams of three.
- A copy of a valid visa (D2, D-4-1) or a foreigner registration card must be submitted.
- Proof of enrollment or a leave of absence certificate from the university/graduate school or language institute must be submitted.
- Students from different institutions/nationality may form a team to participate.
B. Participation restrictions
Participation will be restricted under the following circumstances:
- Individuals with dual nationality, where either parent or the participant has Korean nationality.
- Circumstances where clear identification is impossible.
- Circumstances of non-compliance with the competition headquarters' requests or instructions.
D. Prohibited Actions
- False information must not be provided on any document related to the competition application.
- Awards will be revoked if the tournament process is purposely disrupted, or if any team member is absent.
Article 4: Application for Participation
- Teams wishing to participate must apply through the tournament's official website within the registration period.
- Each team member must submit their application form individually.
- During application, representatives and team members must submit different forms.
Article 5: Submission of Documents
A. Submission Method
- The team leader and team members must each submit their application forms individually.
- The team leader must also submit a Youtube link to a team introduction video in Korean.
B. Required Documents
The following documents must be submitted by all participants.
- Documents proving foreign status: valid visa copy (D2, D-4-1) or foreign registration certificate.
- Documents proving current enrollment or leave of absence: enrollment certificate from the current university/graduate school or language institute.
C. Korean Team Introduction Video
- The video should cover team-introduction and motivation for applying.
- It must be within 3 minutes and include the faces and voices of all team members.
- There are no restrictions on the method of filming or editing the video.
- The video must be submitted as a YouTube link that is accessible for review and download.

Originality
- Is the content creative and original?
- Does it include personal experiences in the storytelling?
- Does it introduce content related to the Korean Olympiad?
Fluency
- Were the Korean expressions used correctly and appropriately?
- Is there naturalness in pronunciation and intonation?
- Were a variety of vocabulary used?
Communication Skills
- Was the presentation made effectively with confidence?
- Is the introduction of all team members adequately covered?
Article 7: Finals
- The tournament will be conducted in Korean.
- A total of four programs will be administered, and the top 15 teams will be awarded based on cumulative scoring.
Article 8: Copyright and Use Restrictions of Tournament-Related Materials
- All materials and works provided to and submitted by participants in the tournament are owned by the organizers.
Article 9: Ownership and Disclosure of Competition Content, Video, and Documentation
- The tournament process may be recorded, and the footage, along with submitted documents, will belong to the hosting/organizing institution.
- The hosting/organizing institution may disclose these materials publicly, and participants are considered to have consented to this.
Article 10: Communication between Organizers and Participating Teams
- Announcements and notifications for the tournament will primarily be made through the official website.
- Participants (teams) are responsible for any disadvantages arising from their failure to check the website or emails due to personal reasons.
- To ensure a fair and smooth tournament, the organizers will verify the identity of the participating teams before the event.
Article 11. Tournament Guidelines
- Tournament members must adhere to the safety regulations provided at the venue and must not engage in behavior that threatens the safety of others.
- If any member poses a safety threat to others through violence, assault, verbal abuse, or intimidation, they will be immediately disqualified and removed from the venue.
- In the event of an accidental injury or illness that impedes tournament participation, immediate evacuation or hospital transfer will be carried out.
- The opinions of the team members about continuing the tournament will be considered, and if they wish to proceed, the team will continue to participate.
